BACKGROUND:

I have been in the mental health field since 2018 and have been licensed as a LCSW in the state of Virginia since April 2023. I have worked in a variety of different treatment settings including residential, outpatient and group therapy, inpatient, school-based therapy, and community-based mental health.

I have experience with various populations, including children (ages 5-12), adolescents, young adults, and adults.  I have a passion for working with adults and women with trauma, as well as supporting parents (specifically mothers) through the stress of life and having a family.  I am skilled in helping clients struggling with depression, anxiety, mood disorders, ADHD, Autism, adjustment disorder, PTSD, and personality disorders.  I am fully trained in EMDR Therapy and specialize in trauma and process-based work.  In addition to individual therapy, I also provide couples counseling, family-based therapy, and group therapy.

Whether you are just starting your mental health journey, need someone to talk to, or have been in therapy before, I can guide you and work with you on your path to self-discovery, healing and recovery! My therapeutic approach with all my clients is meeting them where they're at and creating a warm, safe, and open space for authentic connection, collaboration and growth. I believe the therapeutic relationship and trust in the therapeutic space is the most important piece in therapy and prioritizes client-centered work, nonjudgmental stance, and compassion.

I am fluent in Korean and knowledgeable in French. I am passionate about working with minorities, especially those in Asian-American cultures and communities. I recognize the cultural nuances and unique challenges a person of color experiences and I am mindful of and values cultural competency and other ethnic backgrounds.

In my free time, I like to spend time with my husband, daughter, and two dogs, Mila and Moose. I also like to be active - going hiking, walking, playing pickleball and volleyball, and hanging out with friends and eating good food! Fun fact- Mila is a therapy dog and has worked with some of my past clients who have struggled with anxiety and depression! I bring Mila along to the office to meet some of my clients who would feel more comfortable with a furry friend in session! If you would like to find out more about my therapeutic approach and see if I would be a good fit, please reach out to schedule an appointment.
