BACKGROUND:
With over 15 years of experience, I specialize in treating ADHD, anxiety, depression, grief/loss, OCD, life transitions, interpersonal challenges, and low self-esteem. My previous work experience includes working at a domestic violence shelter, foster care agency, and residential treatment program. By pulling from a variety of therapeutic frameworks, I help clients create achievable goals, identify and utilize their strengths, and make consistent progress. Areas of growth often include emotional identification, healthy expression of emotions, assertiveness, communication skills, boundary setting and enforcement, and conflict resolution skills.
I have a personal interest in the treatment of ADHD, anxiety, and navigating blended family dynamics. My husband and I have been married for over 10 years and raised our 4 children, who have dealt with ADHD, Anxiety, and Depression, in a blended family. Having gone through the assessment and therapy process as a parent provides me with a compassion and understanding that enhances my ability to help clients navigating these circumstances. I grew up in Northern Virginia and I’m raising my children in Loudoun County, so I have first hand experience as an individual and a parent navigating the unique culture and stressors of this area.
I believe the relationship between counselor and client plays a large role in making counseling successful. My goal for therapy is to create a safe space for my clients to process their experiences and mental health challenges. I provide my client’s with education, tools, and resources to use while in treatment and after the counseling relationship has ended. I look forward to walking with you as you begin this journey of self-exploration and growth.
