Therapeutic Groups and Workshops
Group Therapy
Group therapy is a form of psychotherapy where carefully screened and selected individuals meet weekly in a small group with a trained therapist. Participants share their thoughts and experiences with the group, provide support to other group members, and help one another effect individual change.
There are different types of groups including:
Support/Process Groups:
Support and Process Groups are tailored to individuals who are dealing with similar difficult circumstances, such as medical conditions, grief/loss, addiction, or caretaking. A Support or Process Group offers a safe place where clients can get information that is practical, constructive, and helpful. Clients will give and receive encouragement from group members and learn more about coping with their challenges through shared experiences.
Psychotherapy Groups:
Psychotherapy Groups include individuals with similar long term issues and psychological disorders, such as Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, etc. Psychotherapy Groups help individuals reduce negative symptoms as well as improve social functioning.
Specific Skills Development Groups:
Skills Groups are typically formed around a specific topic, such as anger management, social skills, self-esteem, etc. Participants in Skills Groups are usually individuals of similar age and level of functioning.
